Project BlindSighted

The Purpose

Several months ago, Blind Photographers began a project where we, as a community, investigate how each of us makes photographs. We are all unique in the way we use our camera. We vary in our experience, equipment, interest and goals. Some of us are professionals and others hobbyists, some are more artistic and some less so, some shoot daily and some sporadically, some shoot for an audience and some for themselves. These define, in part, how we approach the camera. Yet we all share something in common. We each face challenges related to our eyesight, challenges that affect our image-making process. This project is an opportunity to explore how we approach photography.

The Process

The project works as follows. Each interested member has posted a topic on the Flickr discussion forums.

In this thread, the photographer lays out his or her photographic process, how vision affects the process and how the process has been adapted.  Each thread addresses how equipment is set up, how composition is chosen or created, how an exposure is made and how a final print is produced.

The reason we each have our own thread is for  follow up questions and discussions. Each discussion thread functions like a blog where each story line can develop over time.
